- Paint Shop Pro -- a NICE poor man's Adobe Photoshop.
- Adobe Photoshop -- their Windoze apps are painful to support...but very capable for the user.

- Intel. The people who make those hideous commercials in pastel colors...
- AMD -- they make the only clone CPU that I'll take over an Intel.
- Dell Computers...the best big-time OEM out there. I prefer stuff that I personally build...but these are good systems! (Note: I may be revising this opinion with a noticed quality slip recently with Dell servers and the fact that they are exporting so many support jobs to India)
- Gateway Computers...used to be good, not so hot anymore.
- Acer Computers. Acer makes good components...their systems can be quite questionable, mixing old and new technology.
- ESS Technology. Low end soundcards.
- Trident Microsystems. They make inexpensive chipsets. Some good, some not.

- Tyan--best motherboards made.
- Epox--Good motherboards, somewhat less expensive than Tyan.
- Asus--Excellent runner-up to Intel.
- Foundry Networks--Best managed switches made: Layer 2,3,4-7. Excellent enterprise and metro level equipment. These switches are cheaper and better performers than Cisco.
- Cisco--King of the Routers and biggest hitter in the high end switch market. They have the market. Excellent routers, second best switches.

- Sam Spade - a cool tool for troubleshooting your internet site.

- Nmap -- the BEST port scanner out there. Validate that your servers and PCs are as secure as you believe. It's an eye opener!
- OpenSSH -- a free Unix Secure Shell Server. Replace Telnet and FTPd with this.
